COMPANY DESCRIPTION Our client with a locally crafted menu, a handpicked wine list and long line up of specialty beers and other fine libations, they practice what they preach. REPORT TO - Chef and General Manager. REQUIREMENT - Work Certificate from previous jobs are required. - Prepare and cook Canadian style breakfasts, brunch and lunch dishes including pancakes, waffles, omelettes, crepes, sandwiches and salads - Portion, arrange and garnish dishes - Ensure quality of all food plates - Work with and support an efficient kitchen team - Manage the inventory of food ingredients - Clean and sanitize kitchen and work areas - Follow health and Safety guidelines set out by Alpenhorn and the province of BC - High knife co-ordination and prioritizing skills - Minimal experience required: 2 years or more commercial food preparation - Must be able to work in fast paced environments and under time pressure - Must have high level of attention to detail and the drive to make their plates beautiful - Assist dish section if they are behind - Adhere to Alpenhorn's Standards PAYMENT ADVANCE - Payment advance available to cover first month rent + security deposit deductible through payroll LANGUAGE SKILLS - French (Advanced): Read - write - speak - listen - English (Advanced): Read - write - speak - listen IMMIGRATION FORMALITY - Work permit application process is covered by the employer. - A support service is provided: - Airport pickups. - Settlement and Integration (assistance finding housing, opening bank accounts, obtaining social insurance number), healthcare. ESSENTIAL DUTIES - Prepare and cook meals or individual dishes and food prep - Prepare food portions, estimate food requirements for service. - Inspect kitchens and food service areas for health and safety requirements & address any concerns - Assist with training staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food - Following and building a prep list for daily prep execution - Cooperative dishwashing (Literally all staff wash dishes) - Cutting and prepping Meats, Fish, Poultry and Vegetables - Prepping Sauces and desserts - Receiving orders and organizing coolers/dry storage - Following Daily and Weekly cleaning duties to ensure kitchen is always clean as required. - Executing menu items on line during Lunch/Dinner to specifications while maintaining high food quality and consistency - Maintaining a high level of communication at all times during lunch/dinner execution on line - May be required to open the restaurant and set it up for service (7am-8am) - May be required to close the restaurant down and leaving it clean and ready to go for next day's service (1am-1:30am) - The duties of this position are subject to change as directed by the Chef. HOURS OF WORK - This position requires you to work a minimum of 35+ hours per week, with a schedule that will vary as dictated by the Kitchen Manager/General Manager. Candidates must be able to work Mornings, Evenings and Weekends PERFORMANCE REVIEWS - Review after 6 months and annually BENEFITS - Uniforms provided (employee responsible to black pants, black socks and black non slip kitchen shoes), Tips provided every 2 weeks (avg $3 per hour), 50% off staff food while on shift.
